QR code pet tags for dogs and cats
A Locatid pet tag is a round QR code tag that hangs from your pet's collar. Whoever finds your dog or cat scans it with their phone camera, sees your pet's photo and your first name, and sends you a message. They never see your phone number or email, and they don't need an app.
A neighbour with a phone is all it takes.

They scan the tag
Any phone camera works. No app to download, no account to make.
-
2
They see who your pet is
Your pet's photo, the name you gave the tag and your first name. Nothing else about you.

3
You get the message
An email lands the moment they write. You chat privately and arrange the reunion.
Keep the microchip. Add something anyone can read.
A microchip can't fall off, but only a scanner at a vet or shelter can read it. That's why the American Veterinary Medical Association and the ASPCA both recommend a visible ID tag too: anyone can read a tag.
A Locatid tag is the ID anyone can read. Whoever finds your pet can message you on the spot, with no scanner and without seeing your phone number. Keep any rabies or licence tag your area requires, too.
Lost pets are common, and most make it home. In an ASPCA survey of 1,015 households published in 2012, 15% had lost a dog or cat in the previous five years, and 93% of the lost dogs and 74% of the lost cats were found again.
A customizable, QR code-enabled tag.

It is round and hangs from the collar on a split ring, with your pet's photo on the front and the Locatid QR code on the back. Zazzle prints it, ships it to you and takes the payment for the printed tag.
*Tags are designed and tracked using Locatid. Tags are purchased for a one-time charge through Zazzle, who sets the pricing, which may change at Zazzle's discretion.
Questions about QR pet tags
Does the person who finds my pet need an app?
No. The code opens an ordinary web page in their phone's browser, and they can message you without an app or an account.
Will they see my phone number or address?
No. They see your pet's photo, the name you gave the tag and your first name. Your email address and phone number are never shown. Anything you type into the chat is visible to them, so leave out what you don't want to share.
Can I see where the tag was scanned?
Yes. Each scan is recorded with the date, the time and an approximate location from the scanning phone's network. It shows where the tag was scanned, not where your pet is now.
Is a QR pet tag a GPS tracker?
No. The tag has no battery and sends no signal, so it works when someone scans it. To follow your pet's location live you need a GPS collar. A Locatid tag is how the person who finds your pet reaches you.
What if the tag falls off?
The tag and its code stay in your account. You can order another print of the same code from Zazzle, and it works exactly like the first.
Do I need a subscription?
Not for a single tag. The free plan covers one tag. Pro covers up to 10 tags for $4.99 a month. The printed tag is bought separately from Zazzle.
